WookieFoot

For those of you who are new to this community, WookieFoot is a high energy magical phenomenon sustained by a beautiful family of players and believers. You have nurtured these seeds we planted and we thank you for that. We hope you enjoy the fruits of this community as we are.
Easy Star All Stars
You have probably heard the Dub remix of Pink Floyd “Dub Side of the Moon”and The Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band but might not be familiar with the master minds behind it … Easy Star All Stars. They will be bringing a crew of Reggae Bad Asses to create their blend of Dub Classics for us. A rare treat indeed! Combining musical versatility, instrumental prowess, beautiful vocal harmonies and a superb rhythm section, the Easy Star All-Stars have established themselves as one of the top international reggae acts since their live debut in 2003. Thanks to their best-selling tribute album releases, Dub Side of the Moon (2003) and Radiodread (2006), and others - the Easy Star All-Stars have built a growing, dedicated fan base throughout the world, bringing together fans of reggae, classic rock, dub and indie rock into one big family. Their latest release, First Light, released in April 2011, allows the group to grow creatively, unleashing its talent on a disc of totally original music.
Trevor Hall
By now you all know and love Trevor Hall ! He loves us too and asked to come back again. His set last year was unbelievably electrifying and inspirational. Trevor Hall embodies a soulfulness, depth and passion far beyond the artist’s 22 years. His youthful exterior belies the depth and intensity of an old soul. Trevor’s music is an unconventional mix of acoustic rock and reggae that serves as a vibrant landscape for his thought-provoking, inspiring lyrics. His musical perspective is really his emotional perspective. Hope, positivity, persistence, faith, joy, love for his fellow man, kindness and a beautiful sense of reckless abandon all embody him as a person and as an artist. Musically, Trevor Hall spans several genres—soul, reggae, pop, electronica, folk—yet the record feels singular in its origin, really. It’s not a sum of its parts; it’s the sum of Trevor.
Papadosio
Papadosio are staking their claim to the live Electro-Dance scene with their unbelievable summer tour including Electric Forest and Sonic Bloom! They have a really unique variety of sound that weaves seamlessly through Jam and Rock genres as transitions in their Dance creations… keeping it fresh and unpredictable. Formed in Athens, OH, Papadosio has been creating a home at the forefront of live electronica for five years. With a sound defined by unexpected combinations, this quintet has wowed crowds at clubs, theaters, and festivals across the country. The bands songwriting showcases improvisational interludes and refreshing vocal harmonies with an amplified message of transcendence, unity, and universal understanding. Now hailing from Asheville, NC, Papadosio’s mission is clear: to combine eclectic musical traditions with modern electronica to stir the heart and fuel the mind.
Delhi 2 Dublin
I caught Delhi to Dublin twice now in Bali and they tore it up both times. Their blend of Electro-World Dance fusion is awesome. They have the talent to rock any genre they want to… lucky for us they chose Big Beat Dance Music. Back in 2006, a live collaboration put together as a one-off performance piece for a club-night in Vancouver called “Delhi to Dublin” was so well-received that requests for additional performances led to the official formation of Delhi 2 Dublin. “Not being able to fit into any specific genre allows the band to create whatever we like and not be judged for it. Our audience expects nothing less.” The band finds this advantageous for their live show as it enables them to create a flow to their sets much like a DJ would for the dance floor. “Audiences love to see a band transcending stereotypes and letting the music speak for itself”.
Elephant Revival
That simple line atop Elephant Revival’s Facebook page contains only five words, but reveals volumes about the band’s reason for being. Music unites us in ways that no other medium can. Even when we don’t understand one another’s languages — we can be moved by a rhythm, soothed by a song. Brought together by a unified sense of purpose — the spirit of five souls working as one, in harmony, creating sounds they could never produce alone. The five souls in Elephant Revival are Sage Cook (banjo, guitar, mandolin, tenor banjo, bass and fiddle); Bridget Law (fiddle, octave fiddle); Bonnie Paine (washboard, djembe, musical saw, stompbox); Daniel Rodriguez (guitar, banjo, bass); and Dango Rose (double-bass, mandolin, banjo). All share vocals and write songs. Paine delivers additional beats via footstomps on plywood, her stockinged feet doing near jigs as her hands, encased in antique leather gloves, rub silver nickel against corrugated metal.
The Luminaries
The Luminaries showed up on our radar after recording a West Coast hit with Trevor Hall called “Be the Change”. Obviously that got our attention and after hearing it our respect too ! I saw them In Bali and they are all super down to Earth Conscious Warriors. They are like the Love child of J5 and Wookiefoot !!!! Fat funky Hip Hop grooves with smooth seamless lyrical flow spit’n a positive message thick with ancient knowledge and wisdom. With a range of sounds spanning from classic, feel-good boom-bap, to neo-soul mashed with super-charged funk-rock, the Luminaries cover the full spectrum of light and frequency. It’s is not simply good tunes that gets the crowd hyped off this live rap act, the 3 MCs perform with a tight group of instrumentalists to accompany their positive message. The outcome is that audiences are left feeling empowered, inspired, and filled with a sense of sheer love as they walk away from this ecstatic experience.
Zach Deputy
There is no way to describe Zac Deputy! Its like trying to tell someone about Heatbox. You just have to see him. He is the latest and greatest in the One Man Band phenomenon that modern technology has liberated. Zac is so diverse and talented that I really have no idea what to expect from his performance …other than I know its gonna melt faces! On his upcoming release Another Day (Eusonia Records, 2011), Zach Deputy demonstrates his extraordinary ability to perform and record in multiple contexts and conveys the sensibilities of a mature singer/songwriter. Another Day offers another look at Zach Deputy and seeks to help him cross over into other audiences. Rich with ballads and mid-tempo songs, the music on this recording is best described as soulful rhythm and blues, with flavors of Al Green, Taj Mahal and Stevie Wonder emerging in the swells, changes and modulations of the music, in the voice and even in the lyrical content. The record will appeal to fans of contemporary artists like Jack Johnson and Amos Lee, but the origins of the style and feel remain classic.
Medicine for the People
Nahko and Medicine for the People made a huge splash with our family last summer and are the #1 requested act. They are growing sooo fast … They are gonna be huge soon! Nahko is opening for Franti for New Years! WHAT ..!?!…YEP … I hope we are lucky enough to keep having them join our family …but the World is about to discover these kids and I guess we should share them. Medicine for the People is not just an amazing band, but also a third year non-profit organization working with every kind of community imaginable to rekindle old traditions and spark the fire within the youth and elders to live their truths; to use your personal medicine and heal the wounds around us. A community experience. Spirited thump-hop storytelling. Earth-based-spirit-inspired. Working for social and environmental justice. Musical medicine. The band tours and performs at benefits to support causes for other non-profits aligned with a similar vision. Be a part of the global movement. We will activate our audience towards positive direct acti1on; a selfless tribe, caretakers of the land, walking in a sacred manner.
Cas Haley
I asked Trevor who he thought would be a good fit for our community. He came back with Cas Haley. Cas was runner up on America’s got Talent and is currently touring with Trevor. He is a super genuine and kind soul. You can feel it when he sings and his voice is incredible. Cas Haley is breaking out on his own terms. Cas points out, reggae’s core message is, after all, “one love.” His crystalline voice and funky, easygoing beats earned Cas a second-place finish on America’s Got Talent, which in turn netted him a measure of fame and a following. But the contest also locked the Texan singer/songwriter/guitarist into a major label deal that didn’t feel right. So, not wanting to be turned into a manufactured product, he struck out on his own. The superb result: Connection, a collection of songs basking in the philosophical and musical maturity that comes from staying true to his artistic vision.Pert Near Sandstone
Take old time music off the back porch, throw out the hillbilly reputation, and put it in the hands of a group of guys that like to work hard and play even harder. Pert Near Sandstone rejuvenates American stringband music with raw energy; they play tightly-crafted original material that lends itself to the modern audience, as well as being stewards of the old-time and bluegrass traditions. They are just as at home playing fully acoustic in the traditional style as they are plugged in at an indie rock venue. From saloons to theaters, hollering into a single microphone and laying thick rhythm on driving fiddle melodies, their sweat-inducing, foot-stomping live performances keep crowds begging for more all night long.
Heatbox
Heatbox has been emerging in the Minneapolis music scene for the better part of a decade. From rocking crowds in his humble beginnings with the Root City Band to selling out shows across the country, Heatbox’s unparalleled crossover between Motown, A cappalla, R&B, Hip Hop, Soul and Funk has gained National attention from both fans and the media alike. Creating beats and building songs from the ground up, Heatbox uses nothing but a loop effect to create his songs. Recording each part as he goes, Heatbox’s music is live and in the moment. Using no tracks, samples, or pre-recorded music, each song and performance is distinctly unique.
Steez
Categorization be damned, the Madison-based five piece, STEEZ, consisting of Matt Williams (keyboards/synthesizers), Steve Neary (guitar/vocals), Rob Bessert (drums), Chris Sell (bass), and Andrzej Benkowski (saxophone/keys) is — in the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions – a funk band, a jamband, a fusion band, a disco-fanged multi-beast, and a basket case. Churning out their self-described Creepfunk, a high energy, danceable variety of funk — one uniquely laced with electronic and improvisational sensibilities – STEEZ has garnered a loyal following throughout the Midwest. In April 2012 STEEZ released a 4 track EP entitled KRONOS that can be streamed and downloaded at steezcreepfunk.bandcamp.com.
Jon Wayne & the Pain
Midwest reggae rockers Jon Wayne and The Pain have been carving a sizable niche in the reggae-rock genre. Their sophomore release “Follow Through” builds upon the success of the group’s self-titled debut album, once again showcasing their unique mix of reggae, rock, and dub that fans can’t get enough of. Jon, Teeto and Chuckie are the ultimate coast-to-coast road warriors having played an average of 20 shows per month for the last 3 years. Their live shows are a powerful display of the trio’s “Reggae-Tronic Dub”. The band creates a unique psychedelic Reggae sound by blending Reggae-Rock, Roots, Pop, and Ska with evolving bass heavy tangents of electronic dub.
Kinetix
Dynamic. How better to describe Kinetix, a band whose most recent album Let Me In hit #47 on the iTunes Top 200 Rock Charts and yet just wrapped separate national tours with hip hop darlings Flobots and Australian roots-rock kings Beautiful Girls? ‘Let Me In’ certainly plays like a byproduct of a unique career trajectory, managing to maintain a fresh approach while smoothly transitioning between energetic rock and carefully crafted pop.
Sovereign Sect
Hailing from the frozen Tundra of Fargo, Sovereign Sect has taken the reins and pioneered one of the most underrated, vibrant live electronic scenes in the midwest. The Sect has become a staple for bass music lovers around the Upper Midwest. With the recent addition of two new members to the previous producer/drummer combo, Sovereign Sect is delving into new realms of electronic live performance.
The Giving Tree Band
With “The Joke, The Threat & The Obvious,” its third album, Illinois’ The Giving Tree Band goes to the head of a very classy class and establishes brothers Eric and Todd Fink in the first rank of young American songwriters. Now, the GTB prides itself not only on being a carbon-neutral band but on being a collective—all the songs are credited as a band effort. The GTB’s country-bluegrass-folk-flavored tunes hurtle across the soundscape with the urgent drive of really good rock ‘n’ roll. The Joke, The Threat & The Obvious is but another chapter in an unfolding saga ever more compelling and labyrinthine with each installment. Something special is going on here, and the wheel’s still in spin. -by David McGee, The Bluegrass Special
More Than Lights
More Than Lights is a live band infusing elements of Hiphop, Funk, and Soul with upbeat, positive lyrics and vibes. Minneapolis Hiphop veterans Zach Combs and Unicus (a.k.a. Kanser) are joined by Natalie Fine, Reuben Rodriguez, Matiu Unga, Corey Hess, and Joshua Jellyfish to form the group. Creating a variety of fresh dance music, MTL brings together bohemians, hip-hop kids, hipsters, hamsters and everyone else under the sun. After spending most of 2010 touring and recording, More Than Lights completed their sophomore effort; an EP entitled “Fun’s On Our Team” in January 2011. The new EP displays the high-energy and playful style the band brings to all of their live shows. Their songs reflect the inclusive, family attitude they’ve become known for.
PB & The Jam
Having an unprecedented musical birth in Minneapolis, Minnesota, P.B. & The Jam, in its genesis stages, was comprised of a simple idea: creation & originality. The extremely talented Jazz-Fusion jam band brings insanely intricate melodies and mind blowing rhythms. Composed of drums, bass, guitar, keys, brass section and turntablism, P.B. & The Jam is a raucously great time.
Dustin Thomas
My name is Dustin. I’ve got a guitar called forgiveness and a song in my heart.
The Coop
The Coop is the concoction of drummer/producer Jake Barinholtz, guitarist/producer Danny Biggins, and bassist/producer Cason Trager. Formed in 2004 in Chicago, The Coop quickly broke into the jam-rock and electronica scene, and over time, evolved their sound and lineup to what it is today. With keyboard virtuoso Joe Re rounding out the group, the band’s sound and versatile abilities stretched into uncharted territories. Capturing the modern unification of organic and future sounds through the fusion of electronic production and traditional instrumentation, The Coop consistently takes the listener on genre-bending aural adventures. The synchronization of breakbeat, dub, jazz, and jamband rock drive their core sound, resulting in dynamically flowing original tracks and live performances.

The Limns are a 5 piece band based out of St. Paul, MN. The group consists of Zacc and Zeke Fricke, Ira Bratzel, Jevon Sacarelos, and Mat Brunet. The Limns have a unique sound that has captivated many people, young and old bringing them out of the house and onto the dance floor. They have a feel good, get up and dance vibe. Zacc, Zeke, Ira, and Jevon were raised in the heart of St. Paul, MN. It was there that they discovered their love for music. Lunar Funk Theory

Energy permeates each Lunar Funk Theory performance like the moon’s light twisting through the trees in the night sky. LFT’s loving atmosphere and uplifting lyrics bring a great mix of friends, fans, and family together to celebrate the journey of life.

Backed by a band of talented multi-instrumentalists featuring an eclectic blend of percussion, guitar, violin and acoustic bass. i like you delivers an energetic sound that evokes elements of folk, funk, and gypsy jazz.
Aron Kamm and The One Drops
A staple of the St.Louis music scene, Aaron Kamm and the One Drops play an intoxicating concoction of Roots Reggae and Mississippi River Blues. Improv-laced Jams, dubbed out grooves and Effervescent Vocals make this band must see. After the release of there second studio album “Grow” in 2010, this independent trio is beginning to forge there way across the country.
Evergreen Grass Band
The seeds were sown for the EverGreen Grass Band in 2008 and cultivated throughout the fertile musical grounds of Eau Claire, WI. The six members of the band, including Chicago import Steve Bateman (harmonica), gathered their traditional bluegrass instruments and grew into oneof the most sought after non-traditional bluegrass acts on the Northwood’s musical frontier.
Whether headlining a show or opening for such national acts as Trampled By Turtles, .357 String Band, Pert Near Sandstone or Cornmeal, just to name a few, the band has discovered that once they play a venue they are likely to get invited back. This pattern played out throughout
2010 as these self-proclaimed “not quite a bluegrass band” musicians spent the festival season barnstorming the Midwest building their fan base and promoting their first CD, “For Sheriff”.
Blue Martian Tribe
Blue Martian Tribe (BMT) has a sound and style all of their own. Writing and blending many styles including rock, trance, bluegrass, funk, jazz and dance. BMT also launched their own music festival Tribal Equinox with the first annual event taking place in September of 2011 in Omaha, Nebraska. They are veterans of over 200 shows in venues ranging all over the Midwest. BMT is a fresh take on a familiar sound with innovative, complex songwriting and highly danceable beats. Be abducted by Blue Martian Tribe as soon as you can!!!TUGG
The west coast of Wisconsin is not typically thought of as a hotbed of alternative reggae music. However, TUGG, hailing from La Crosse, WI has done an amazing job channeling tropical grooves and breezy melodies and has quickly become a top draw in the Midwest and beyond.
Coming from a state known more for the Green Bay Packers, cold weather, and cheese, they boast an impressive resume of rubbing shoulders with reggae heavyweights. From shows with Barrington Levy and Slightly Stoopid to recording tracks with the likes of Pato Banton, Josh Heinrichs, and Outlaw Nation, TUGG continues to prove why they are a fast rising star in the alternative reggae scene.
SOAP
Like the band name, Soap’s music is undoubtedly fresh. With influences ranging from jazz, blues and funk to progressive, psychedelic and electronic, Soap skillfully fuses all of these genres into one – dance infused rock. Imagine going to a double matinee showing of Led Zeppelin & P-Funk at Dream Theatre and then heading to an Amsterdam discotheque to dance until the sun came up. That’s about as close as can be described without seeing Soap for yourself.
Originally from just south of Chicago, Illinois, Soap uprooted and moved to Minneapolis in 2007 and has become a staple in the thriving Twin Cities music scene. January of 2012 will mark one year of Soap’s weekly residency at The Cabooze, a long-standing tradition at the legendary Minneapolis venue.

Check our website for updates on shows and releases.

Sara Glass, a.ka. Miss Conception, has served as a conscious performance artist in Lawrence and Kansas City, debuting her hiphop side recently. Heard from the grape vines of KS spoken word, she’s got a message to breed. Through sung choruses and leads, emcee Miss C takes over the microphone with a motivational, educational and confrontational style - realigned, and influized by the honorable Ani Difranco and Jurassic 5. MissC also has a passion for dance, movement and performance art. A pro on the hula-hoop, from hiphop to belly dancing moves, she breaks it down on stage in many ways.
