Occupy Wall Street comes to Minnesota!
OCCUPY WALL STREET COMES TO MINNESOTA
A few days ago, I went down to the kick off of the Occupy Wall St movement’s arrival to Minnesota in downtown Minneapolis. Since the launch of the occupation in New York City on September 17th, over 60 cities in the United States have begun their own occupations and over 800 cities worldwide have either started or are planning their own solidarity events. I know that the media has painted a confusing picture of this protest in that they do not focus on a single mission statement or idea. Don’t be fooled… there is a wonderful cohesion among these people even amidst the diversity of ideology. How often do get to see Progressives, Blue Collar Democrats, Ron Paul Libertarians, and Anarchists all communicating openly and honestly about the problems that face our country. There were certain core values that they expressed that I believe very few of us would disagree with.

We are so ecstatic to announce that we will be hosting Matisyahu at this years Shangri-La!
Its been a long time coming … but finally we got our old friend in the park.
He will be playing with the DUB TRIO. They performed together at First Ave. and it might have been the best show I have ever seen !!!
They play off each other in amazing ways. The Dub Trio creates these deep space pockets then ramp into powerful sensory overload crescendos that launch Matis into the Cosmos. Of all his collaborations this is the one !!

Varanasi
On this our 4th trip to India we decided it was time for us to make the pilgrimage to Shiva’s Sacred City by the Holy Ganges River. For years we have heard stories from fellow travelers about the intensity of this ancient place. It is the …place where Hindu’s believe that after death to have your body burned on the Ghats of the River Ganga your Karma will be cleared. As such, thousands of dying people pour into the city and the fires never stop. It is said that a Temple has kept the same flame lit by Shiva burning for thousands of years. The lower “untouchable” class who manage the burning Ghats take great pride in this ..it is an honor . They also care for the sick and dying who await their liberation. This is the most powerful Service I can even image… God bless them ..for sure !
once you get past the gruesome choking filth of it all…. It is actually an awesome and beautiful thing to witness. This is the challenge and lesson of India. We had transcended much of the daily assault your senses endure traveling in a Country with 1.2 Billion people… but Varanasi is “trial by fire”. Just before arriving a French girl told us of being traumatized when her path crossed that of a dog dragging a baby out of the river ! That’s right … THIS IS NOT A TEST !!
